I am a research assistant at the Williams-Gray group, where my primary research focus is investigating the role of the immune system in mediating clinical variability in Parkinson’s disease and progression to dementia.

embryonic stem cell (ESC) therapies in Parkinson’s disease.
Marija Zarocsinceva

I am a third year PhD student in Cancer Biology. My research investigates a gene, CEBPA, that is commonly mutated in a blood cancer called AcuteMyeloid Leukaemia. I am particularly interested in how the dysregulation of this gene affects the cells to drive them into a cancerous state.
Sanika Kulkarni

I am a PhD student in Clinical Neurosciences at the Barker/Williams-Gray Lab, based at the Centre for Brain Repair. Working in neuropsychology during my PhD has instilled a fascination in me for psychological impacts of neurodegenerative diseases.

I’m a first year PhD student in the Smith Lab at the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease where my research focuses on the genetics and immunological mechanisms underlying primary immune deficiency. I love all things immunology.
Sandra Petrus-Reurer

I am a postdoctoral researcher at University of Cambridge, Department of Surgery (Saeb-Parsy Lab) where I study immunogenicity of cell therapies, aiming to both understand the nature of rejection and learn how to best modulate their engraftment, tissue repair and long-term survival.

I am a PhD student currently working on assessing the response of people with immune impairments to vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, with a particular focus on how the development of humoral responses can be impacted by inborn errors of immunity and obesity.
Gavin Sewell

I am a postdoctoral Clinical Research Associate based at the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID), and I am also a practicing physician in Gastroenterology and General Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Mariana Silva

I am a PhD student at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience. My PhD project focuses on the use of a neuroimaging technique named Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) as a biomarker for non-Alzheimer tauopathies (namely CBS and PSP).

I am a final year PhD student in the Hodson lab working on B cell lymphoma. My work focuses on understanding the role of recurrently mutated genes in the development of the disease and determining new potential drug targets.

I am a second-year PhD student at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences. My current research focuses on understanding the experience of people living with frontotemporal dementia and trying to identify potential targets for new drug treatments.
Annabel Smith

I am a PhD Student/Research Assistant at the UK Dementia Research Institute. My current work is on how we can harness elements of our immune systems to combat diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease.
Bobby Humphrey

I have studied neuroscience for a number of years, I am interested in exploring the role of amyloid precursor protein mutations and neuroinflammation in brain cell connectivity.

I am the managing director of Cambridge Rare Disease Network charity and have a long history of hosting Pint of Science events. I ran the brain pub in Cambridge the first year Pint started and has been a huge fan ever since!
Stephen Burr

I am a senior postdoctoral research associate based in the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. My research focuses on mutations in the mitochondrial DNA, the diseases they cause, and how they are passed from generation to generation.
Suzie Winsor

I am currently working as a Research Assistant for the University of Cambridge, Department of Medicine, on the PROTECT-V trial. This project investigates a human monoclonal antibody prophylaxis treatment against SARS-CoV-2, namely, ‘Sotrovimab’, for high-risk patients.
